The Families Department ceased annual funding to the Yuddika Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation because it failed to comply with the conditions of its grant and service agreement. The Department maintained that 'the agency had not provided expected levels of support for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children, had shown an inability to place young people in culturally-appropriate homes and had failed to recruit, provide support for and train adequate numbers of carers'.
The publication Missing Pieces (2001) stated that 'it is not known what records are available'.
In 2021, the Queensland government has agreed to be a funder of last resort for this institution. This means that although the institution is now defunct, it is participating in the National Redress Scheme, and the government has agreed to pay the institution's share of costs of providing redress to a person (as long as the government is found to be equally responsible for the abuse a person experienced).
