Largs Bay Cottage Home was established by the Department of Social Welfare and Aboriginal Affairs at 24 Railway Terrace, Largs Bay, in December 1970. It was specifically developed as a hostel for Aboriginal boys who were working or attending secondary schools in the area. Annual Reports from 1969-70 stated that there was a special need for more Cottages, particularly for Aboriginal children.
Largs Bay Cottage Home accommodated up to eight boys. The home was provided to the cottage parents rent-free and they were paid a subsidy for each child in residence.
The date of closure of the Largs Bay Cottage Home is not known.
