The Clarence Park Assessment Unit was opened by the Department for Family and Community Services at 28 William Street, Clarence Park in 1989-90. It was situated on the site of the former Southern Region Admission Unit. The Clarence Park Assessment Unit provided short-term accommodation to children in State care while their residential and care needs were assessed.
The Clarence Park Assessment Unit closed in 1991-92. Its functions were transferred to the Sturt Community Unit and the Woodville Assessment Unit.
