To protect the privacy of individuals named in PHIND, access is restricted.
PHIND contains personal details of the former child migrants in the Catholic migration 'scheme', information about a person's migration and where they lived in Australia and the location of existing records held by government or church agencies. The quantity and quality of information and records relating to individuals varies.
The first group of child migrants came from Britain in 1938, the last of the children came from Malta in 1965. PHIND will assist these people to locate records about themselves that are held by church or government agencies. PHIND may also be of assistance to descendants and relatives of former child migrants.
