Tasmanian Minister for Children, Michelle O’Byrne, has urged any remaining individuals who suffered abuse while in state care to come forward before the successful redress scheme closes to new applicants next month. Continue reading

Featuring ‘snapshots’ from our state-based historians with updates from the various state and territory websites, as well as an article about the newly launched Find & Connect support services from Sarah Green our Client Liaison Officer and a report on the disappearance of a St Stanlislaus House by Karen and Gary George our SA historians.

Queensland Forgotten Australians Remembrance Day 2012

Forgotten Australians Queensland Remembrance Day is on Wednesday 5 September 2012.

Forgotten Australians, their family and friends in partnership with Micah Projects and the Child Protection Week Committee will join together to:

Acknowledge the courage of the many people who experienced abuse and neglect in the care of the church and state child protection systems.

Affirm their determination in breaking the silence.

Be a voice for continuous reform and justice within child protection policy and practice.
