Summary
[Taken from the New South Wales publication Connecting Kin: Guide to Records]
St Michael's Family Centre, run by the Sisters of Mercy, was formerly known as St Michael's Children's Home. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, St Michael's Children's Home evolved into three cottages each with house parents. These cottages now provide accommodation for homeless women and children, and the centre is now known as St Michael's Family Centre. The centre also provides long day care facilities.
In August 2012 the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta announced plans for the closure of the centre.
