Summary
Kormilda College was opened by the Commonwealth Government in 1967 as a hostel and boarding school for Indigenous children moving into secondary school education. The first 121 students came from 27 different remote Northern Territory communities, missions and stations.
From 1989 the College fell under the joint ownership of the Uniting Church and Anglican Church. The college continued to provide residential education programs for Indigenous children but also began to provide education for day students and boarders from the broader community.
