Support Groups and Services

This website contains historical resources about out-of-home 'care' in Queensland. It is not a support service for Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants. The Support Groups and Services page has links to a range of services available including organisations which provide counselling, help with records and family searches and support for family reunions. Information is also provided on national support services including network and advocacy groups.

Family Tracing

This website is not able to provide assistance with family tracing and family reunions. The Family Tracing page has some tips on doing your own searching and links to organisations which can help.

How to use this site

There are many ways to use the Find & Connect website. Please see below for some examples. Look below the picture to see an explanation of red numbers.

Gallery: alphabetical listing of all images in the database, including images of Homes and schools.

Timeline: listing by date of legislation, events, inquiries, reports, and royal commissions.

Glossary: alphabetical listing of difficult to understand terms. Can be used by support services to explain terminology in files.

Browse page: alphabetical listing of all the entries in the database including organisations, people, events, legislation and archival collections.

Search: looks for your search terms wherever they occur in the website.

Browse organisations: alphabetical listing of all the organisations in the database by name, date, and location.

Browse people: alphabetical listing of all the people in the database eg. Orphanage staff, significant public figures. Note this is not an index of Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants.
