ArchivesACT provides access to records of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government. ArchivesACT was established in 2008, and is located in the suburb of Woden, next to the ACT Heritage Library. The ArchivesACT's collection includes health medical records, records of births, deaths and marriages, citizenship and naturalisation papers, and coroner's records.

Details

In order to assist with access to records, ArchivesACT provide a number of services. They contact government agencies on behalf of requestors, and they check that the archives do not contain material that is exempt from public access (records older than 20 years are available for public access). As the records are not stored on-site, ArchivesACT make arrangements for the requestor to view the archives in a secure reading room. Archives of the ACT Government are ordered and arrangements made for their use before visiting the reading room. ArchivesACT make arrangements for any reproduction of records, and assist in contacting the agency copyright holder to facilitate the permissions process. They also write finding aids and research guides to assist members of the public in locating records in their sphere of interest.

ArchivesACT is part of the Territory Records Office in the ACT Government.
