Communities@Work officially came into being on 1 May 2002. It was previously an organisation called Tuggeranong Community Service. Later that year, Communities@Work merged with Weston Creek Community Service. On 1 July 2011, Communities@Work amalgamated with Galilee Inc. In July 2013, Communities@Work merged with Gungahlin Regional Community Service. In 2014, Communities@Work is one of the largest community service organisations in the Australian Capital Territory.
After Galilee Inc merged with Communities@Work in 2011, the name Galilee was retained for its foster care program. According to the Communities@Work website, in 2013 a decision was made to exit from the provision of out-of-home care.
