The farm school was a model of 'care' for children, similar to the 'village' model, but based in a rural area, and involving training for the children in agricultural duties. Farm schools usually comprised a number of cottages in which children lived with cottage parents. The Fairbridge Society ran a number of farm schools in Australia which received child migrants.
