Description

An article that describes a delegation to the NSW Government by MPs who were complaining about the situation of a range of charitable organisations at the start of World War I. At time, homes were facing increases in the number of children needing support, but were receiving fewer donations because of wartime hardships. This article describes Catholic and Salvation Army Homes, including St Joseph's Orphanage at Kincumber, St Brigid's Orphanage at Ryde and many others. The delegation asked for subsidies to be paid to the institutions, as they were in Victoria.
