Access Conditions

Conditional Access - Former residents (and their families) can contact the Heritage and Information Service at MacKillop Family Services to gain access to records. The Heritage and Information Service recommends people contact them through the Records Enquiry Form on the website.

Records

According to the publication Connecting Kin these Residents' Files (1989-present) record family and personal details of the young person, including: name; date of birth; and admission and discharge details. Some files contain psychological reports and information from the Department of Community Services and Department of Juvenile Justice. Admission and discharge information is sent to the Department of Community Services' Research and Data Analysis Branch for inclusion in their admission and discharge database. Files are retained for fifteen years and are then destroyed. Quantity: 223 files (in 1998).
