Mt Penang Juvenile Justice Centre at Kariong was the new name given in 1991 to the Mount Penang Detention Centre. It was run by the Department of Community Services. Mt Penang Juvenile Justice Centre closed in 1999. Its functions were taken over by Kariong Juvenile Correction Centre.

Details

When Kariong was converted to a prison for serious offenders another facility, Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre, was built near the original site.
