Kingsdene Special School at Telopea provided schooling and residential care to children aged 10-18 with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. It was run by Anglicare. By 2009 Kingsdene Special School was the state's only boarding school for profoundly disabled children. It closed when Federal Government funding was cut in 2010. Following the closure of the school, one of the buildings was redeveloped to support the expansion of work by Anglicare Out-of-Home Care Services.
