The Salvation Army Home for Girls, Yeronga, was operated by the Salvation Army. It opened in 1898 and closed in 1942. In March 1942, 41 girls were evacuated from Yeronga to James Horton House, Toowomba, due to fears Brisbane would be bombed by the Japanese. These girls subsequently remained in Toowoomba.

Details

The Industrial School for girls was established under the Reformatories and lndustrial Schools Act 1898, and licensed under the State Children Act 1911 on 31 December 1911. The Salvation Army Home, Yeronga, was licensed under The lnfant Life Protection Act 1905 on 16 March 1925.
