The Statutes Amendment (Sentencing of Young Offenders) Act 1996 (Act No.68/1996) was passed on 15 August 1966 and commenced 8 October 1996. The Act amended the Children's Protection Act 1993, the Criminal Law (Sentencing) Act 1988, the Family and Community Services Act 1972, the Young Offenders Act 1993 and the Youth Court Act 1993.
