The library description states: Nurses, with their small charges, pose for the photographer on the balcony of Mareeba Hospital, Woodville Park, in October 1921. Previously, it had been a convalescent hospital for soldiers, but in August, 1917, it formally became the Mareeba Babies Hospital. Used as a part-time training hospital for nurses, it was extended during the 1920s to accommodate up to 70 babies, including some rooms for mothers.
