Lucinda Family Group Home, run by the government, opened in Latrobe in 1980. It provided temporary accommodation to children who were wards of state or supervised in other ways by the Social Welfare Department and its successors. Lucinda closed in 1986.
Lucinda Family Group Home was in Forth Street, Latrobe, in the house of the former Superintendent of the Weeroona Girls' Training Centre which had closed in 1979.
It was established under the Residential Domestic Assistance Act which provided for the temporary care of children during a family crisis.
A married woman managed Lucinda with the assistance of her husband, who was in paid employment outside the Home. In return, they did not pay rent.
