The Marriage Act 1896 also known as "An Act to amend 'The Marriage Act 1895'"(Act no.60 Vict. No.13) by providing more detail about and altering who could conduct and witness a marriage. This legislation was repealed by the Marriage Act 1942 (Act no. 6 Geo. VI No.53) on 1 January 1943.
