The Country Women's Association of Western Australia (CWA) was established in Nungarin in 1924 to 'help women in isolated communities and to provide a voice to Government to seek solutions to the difficulties facing families in such areas'. During the twentieth century, the CWA set up holiday homes, hostels for country students, and participated actively in fundraising for children in care.
