Adoption Support Services
The Find & Connect web resource was developed for Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants in the wake of the Australian government apology in November 2009. While this is the focus of Find & Connect, many organisations that ran children's homes were also involved in adoptions.
In February 2012, the Senate released its report on the Commonwealth Contribution to Former Forced Adoption Policies and Practices. Find & Connect has information about some of the organisations, legislation and policies mentioned in this report.
There are a range of organisations providing support and services to people who have been affected by adoption, including help with searching, counselling and reunion. This web page is a list of the government-run Post-Adoption Services around Australia, as well as a number of non-government services:
