Summary
[From NLA catalogue entry]: Thorpe and his four siblings were separated from their parents when he was aged 5. He spent a short time at Allambie Children's Home, Melbourne, and then moved to St. Joseph's Catholic Home in Bacchus Marsh [editor's note: this is Providence Children's Home] where he remained until the age of 15. He describes living conditions at St. Joseph's. He then lived briefly with his mother before spending a short time in Turana Home. He discusses his education, early working life and music career.
