This book was written when JS Battye was the Public Librarian of Western Australia. The JS Battye Library, which collects, preserves and disseminates Western Australian history, is named in his honour. This book has a lot of information about the events, people, practices and attitudes of colonial Western Australia.
Readers should be aware that the book contains opinions and language which are not acceptable today.
