Summary
The Methodist Children's Home opened in 1922 on a property in Sussex Street, East Victoria Park. It was the first child care institution that was run by the Methodist Homes for Children, which was part of the Methodist Church in Western Australia. Over time, a number of cottages were built on the site: Mofflyn House (1925), Wesley, Guild, Dowerin and Meckering (1952).
In 1959 the Methodist Children's Home became known as 'Mofflyn House' which quickly became shortened to 'Mofflyn'.
