Glossary terms starting with the letter P:

  • Preventive Payment Scheme – The Preventive Payment Scheme provided assistance to families in serious financial crisis.
  • Preventorium – Preventoriums were institutions to isolate people with tuberculosis from the rest of the population.
  • Private Hostel – Private Hostels were institutions in Western Australia accommodating people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Probation – Probation refers to children or young people being committed by the Children's Court to a period of supervision by the child welfare department in their state or territory.
  • Probationary School – Probationary Schools were for children whose behaviour was not serious enough to warrant placement in a Reformatory.
