The Admission registers are managed by the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG). ISMAPNG formed out of the consolidation of 14 of the 17 congregations of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia, and from the region of Papua New Guinea. This included the Goulburn Congregation, which ran St Joseph's Orphanage, Goulburn.
The information in the registers in this Series includes: Name, DOB, birthplace, mother's name, father's name, date of admission, date of discharge. The name of at least one parent appears in each entry. If siblings came into care their details are also recorded. It is not always possible to determine the exact reason for admission. Related records include personal record cards and some baptismal certificates.
