Phillips Cottage was a foster home set up by the United Protestant Association at Maitland. The UPA had intended to open a family group home at Maitland, but it was not required. It opened as Special Projects of the UPA then became a foster home for a family of three children and was named Phillips Cottage, in honour of its benefactor. It closed around 1990.
