Temporary closure of Congregation Archive
In March 2022, the Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation advised that the Congregation Archive is closed to external requests and the records are not likely to be accessible until the end of 2022. The Archive is in the process of being "reassessed and catalogued with preservation plans and processes to be put in place to secure the long-term survival of the collection".
The Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane Congregation, have advised that the following records exist in relation to St Vincent's (also known as St Vincent's Orphanage and Nudgee Orphanage):
There is a large collection of photos taken throughout the years the institution operated. However, very few exist for the years 1950 to 1953. Anyone with photos for this period is welcome to forward copies to the Sisters of Mercy Archives, Brisbane Congregation, at the address below.
We do not currently have any records linked to this organisation, but records may exist. The Find & Connect Support Service can help people who lived in orphanages and children's institutions look for their records.
