The Commission of Inquiry into Westbrook was established by Order in Council 16 May 1961 and was commissioned to look specifically at the circumstances surrounding the escape of a number of inmates and other matters relating to the conduct of the institution and the welfare of inmates generally. Heading the inquiry was A.E. Schwarten.This series includes reports, depositions, correspondence items, draft findings, memoranda and papers circulated for comment compiled by and used in the Commission of Inquiry into Westbrook Farm Home for Boys. A copy of the final report of the Commissioner is also included.
