The Glandore Community Unit was the new name given to the Southern Region Group Home at 58 Pleasant Avenue, Glandore in 1990. Run by the Department for Family and Community Services, it provided longer term accommodation for up to eight children from eight to upper teens who were deemed to be able to live in the community.
After the Department for Community Welfare became the Department for Family and Community Services in 1990, residential care units were variously closed, moved, rebuilt or renamed for the suburb they were located in rather than the region.
The Glandore Community Unit closed in 1994.
