Dawes speaks about his removal to Morialta Children's Home, S. Aust. at the age of 6 with his younger brother, and describes conditions in the Home. He trained at Wesley College for the Methodist ministry and had postings to Kapunda, Papua New Guinea and Mallala. Dawes was Superintendent at Mogumber Mission, W.A. for the period 1968-71. He outlines the history of the Mission, living conditions, his work there, the state of the buildings, and the attitudes of staff and their level of training. He was involved with the closure of Mogumber in 1971-72 and the transferring of children to cottages in Perth. Dawes expresses his views on Ern Clark, the first Superintendent of Mogumber.
