The St Patrick's Province of the Christian Brothers was established in 1953 covering the states of Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. The St Mary's Province of the Christian Brothers was established at the same time with both Provinces previously being known as the Australasian Province of the Christian Brothers. The new Province was created due to the expanding work of the Christian Brothers and the need for improved administration. During this time in WA the St Patrick's Province ran Bindoon, Castledare, Clontarf and Tardun Farm School. In 1967 due to the continued expansion of the organisation the St Patrick's Province was divided into two new Provinces: the Holy Spirit Province of the Christian Brothers and a new St Patrick's Province of the Christian Brothers. The Holy Spirit Province continued to run the children's Homes in Western Australia.
