Event in Melbourne: Women, children and welfare history in the archives
Melbourne people might be interested in an event being held at Public Record Office Victoria on Wednesday 14 March 2012 (that’s tomorrow!). The “Women, Children and Welfare History in the Archives” seminar is part of celebrations for Women’s History Month.
Tomorrow’s seminar will be filled with stories and discussion about women and their contribution to Victorian society. The event will describe the hardship of mothers who negotiated with child welfare officials in early Victoria and show how you can find wardship records in the collection of Public Record Office Victoria.
The seminar is at the Victorian Archives Centre, 99 Shiel Street, North Melbourne, from 1-2pm. This event is free, but please book your place by calling PROV on (03) 9348 5600.
