These admission and discharge registers were created by the Hay Institution for Girls, and are held by Museums of History NSW (State Archives). The registers contain summary details about girls at Hay, as well as statistics on the number of girls at the institution in a give period of time.

Access to these records is currently restricted. In New South Wales, records relating to individuals, such as case files and correspondence are closed to public access for 100 years. Records such as registers and indexes are closed to public access for 80 years.

    This register contains information about girls admitted to and discharged from the Hay Institution. It includes information such as date of admission/discharge, girl's name, date of birth, reason for committal (e.g. offence charged with), name of court, if the girl was transferred to/from another institution, if the girl was going on/returning from leave (e.g. to hospital, a shelter, court, on remand) or had absconded, who the girl was discharged to and their address, and the length of her incarceration at the Hay Institution.
  • Admission and Discharge Register, 1965-1974. Reference Number: NRS-21122.
    These registers contain information about girls admitted to and discharged from the Hay Institution. It includes information such as date of admission/discharge, girls' name, date of birth, religion, from whom received/to whom discharged, their address, and other remarks.
