This series consists of two copies of a typed list of people, including many children, evacuated from Northern Territory locations in 1942 as a result of the impact of World War II. The list includes children from missions and other institutions across the Northern Territory, including Croker Island, Garden Point Mission, Groote Eylandt Mission, Milingimbi Mission, Pine Creek Home, Roper River Mission, Yirrkala Mission, institutions in Darwin and from Katherine.

One of the copies of the List of Northern Territory Evacuees is open access and is digitized on the National Archives of Australia site. The other copy in the series, which is an exact copy of the digitized document has not yet been examined and is therefore not open for access.

Records

The List of Northern Territory Evacuees has columns with the following headings Name, Sex, Age, Occupation, Evacuated from and Destination. The lists include the names of children from many missions and institutions across the Northern Territory including Croker Island, Garden Point Mission, Groote Eylandt Mission, Milingimbi Mission, Pine Creek Home, Roper River Mission, Yirrkala Mission, institutions in Darwin and from Katherine.

The Destination column notes the location to which they were evacuated including to South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.

The two volumes are exact copies of each other.
