The Chelmer Children's Home, situated at 7 Laurel Avenue, Chelmer was operated by the Presbyterian Church. It opened on 29 November 1969 as a special care centre for disabled babies and toddlers, with a family group wing. The house is now a private residence and has been substantially remodelled.
