Lutheran Archives

Records Access Service and Records Holder

The Lutheran Archives, based in Bowden, South Australia, is the official repository of historical material relating to the activities of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The Archives holds records of the present Lutheran Church as well as records of earlier Lutheran synods in Australia. These synods amalgamated to form the present day church. The Lutheran Archives holds some records related to Koonibba Children's Home (1913 - 1963), Lutheran Emergency Home for Children (1966-1982?) and the Lutheran Girls' Hostel (1959-1982?).

Access Conditions

Most records at the Lutheran Archives are available for inspection. Some records have closed or restricted access. The Archives does not have a comprehensive catalogue of its holdings. Researchers are invited to discuss the nature of their research and the information they are seeking with the Archivist, who will endeavour to find relevant records in the collection.

The Lutheran Archives has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SA Link-up.
