The Mental Health Act Amendment Act 1962 (Act No.28/1962) was passed on 25 October 1962. Its long title is 'An Act to amend the Mental Health Act, 1935-1961'. It re-enacts sections of the principal act, stating that no person can be detained in a mental institution if no formal requests, orders, directions or applications for their detention and treatment have been made or are no longer valid.
