The Statutes Amendment (Serious Firearm Offences) Act 2012 (Act No.33/2012) was passed on 27 September 2012 and commenced on 15 October 2012, with certain sections commencing 4 March 2013. Its full title is 'An Act to amend the Bail Act 1985, the Correctional Services Act 1982, the Criminal Law (Sentencing) Act 1988, the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935, the Summary Offences Act 1953 and the Young Offenders Act 1993'.The amendment introduces the definition of 'serious firearm offender' in the Young Offenders Act.
