The Salvation Army (Australian Southern Territory) was established in 1883. It is a Protestant Church with a strong philanthropic mission. In the past, it ran Maylands Salvation Army Home for Girls, Tower House Young Women's Hostel, Barrington Boys' Home, Rocklyn Maternity Hospital, and Elim Maternity Hospital. In 2014, it is a Christian based organisation that offers assistance to people in need through a range of services.
