Aboriginal Family Group Home, 2012, by Caroline Evans
Details
The Aboriginal Family Group Home, run by the government, opened in the Glebe in about 1975. It provided temporary accommodation to Aboriginal children who were wards of the state or supervised in other ways by the Social Welfare Department and its successors. The Home closed in 1996.
The Aboriginal Family Group Home was in Scott Street, Glebe, a suburb of Hobart.
Plans to adapt the building in 1975 suggest that it may have opened about that time.
