Library & Archives NT was formed in 2019 following the merge of the Northern Territory Archives Service (1983 - 2019) and the Northern Territory Library (1980 - 2019). Its organisational goal is to collect, preserve and provide access to historic and contemporary materials relating to the Northern Territory. It holds government records related to the history of the Northern Territory, including records related to child welfare and Aboriginal welfare. It also holds the records of non-government organisations including mission records, and personal records deposited by individuals, as well as a substantial oral history collection.
