Access conditions

Closed E75 years
Closed E75 means that records in this series that have final entries less than 75 years old are closed to the general public. People wishing to access these records should contact Children and Youth Services which is run by the Department of Health and Human Services, to obtain written permission. How access is provided once permission is granted will depend on the file. Usually Children and Youth Services request it back and then provide access or copies. Staff at the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office may be able to assist you in finding other relevant records.

Records

The entries from 1956 to July 1964 have the children's names, dates of birth, admission and discharge dates. Those from 31 July 1964 onwards include other information such as 'remarks'. 'reasons for admissions' , and parents' names. The amount of information varies.

The back of the volume contains lists from 1966 to 1976 that are draft entries for the Register. The lists sometimes have additional information such as the names of foster parents or employers.
