The Sisters of Nazareth were invited to Melbourne by Archbishop Daniel Mannix, after he received the hospitality of the Order in Hammersmith, United Kingdom in 1920. Nazareth House was established in Camberwell in 1929. The Sisters of Nazareth were founded in London in the mid-nineteenth century by Mother St Basil (Victoire Larmenier 1827-1878).
