Wimmera UnitingCare Records relate to the programs run by Wimmera Family Group Homes, Wimmera Community Care and Wimmera UnitingCare. These programmes included family group homes, Residential Care, foster care, Shared Family Care, and Adolescent Community Placement.
Former residents (and their families) should contact the Uniting Heritage Service to find information, and access personal files. The Uniting Heritage Service is a free service that helps individuals access information about them or family members, as well as access appropriate support should they choose. Heritage Service staff prefer to release records to past residents or their family members in person, where possible, in order to give greater meaning and context to the information.
The Wimmera UnitingCare records include client files, however there are significant gaps in this collection for the years preceding 1991. There are also two register books relating to the Wimmera Family Group Homes that provide the names of children and their dates of admission and discharge from the family group homes.
