The Public Health Act 1889 (No. 1044) was 'An Act to create a Department of Public Health and to further amend the Law relating to Public Health' - amending the Public Health Amendment Statute 1883 (No. 782). It was passed on 25 November1889, and commenced 1 January 1890.
