Admission and Discharge Register of Wards is an archival series held by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. At some point following the closure of Bayswater Boys’ Homes this volume was transferred to the Victorian government.

Access Conditions

Restricted Access – Records containing personal or private information about children are closed to public access for a period of 99 years. Care Leavers (and their families) can apply for access to records via the Care Leaver Records Service.

Records

Information on the Finding Records website indicates that this Register came from Bayswater No. 1 Group Home. Bayswater No 1 was for boys who had committed offences.

The register is a leather-bound volume with a split page format. Admissions are entered in the top half of the page, with discharges in the bottom half. Each page details weekly admission and discharges into and from the home.
