'Let our histories be visible' is an article by Adele Chynoweth, curator of the Inside: Life in Children's Homes and Institutions exhibition. In this article, Adele talks about the challenges that museums face in holding exhibitions that relate recent, traumatic history. She advocates for a 'human rights' approach to museum programs so that the exhibitions that are held 'directly improve the lives' of people who interact with them. The 'Inside' exhibition, she argues, would have benefited by welcoming ongoing engagement with people who were in out of home care as children.
