The assessment documentation on the page for the King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women has historical information about the hospital and the buildings that preceded it. The document gives an establishment date for the Government Industrial School as 1897, but the establishment has been recorded elsewhere as 1893. This document confirms that the industrial school was located in what became known as Harvey House, bounded by Barker Road and Railway Parade. State Heritage Place Number 02438.
